KUALA LUMPUR: If you receive a text message saying your Public Bank account has been compromised and an instruction to click on the link (https://pbebankonline.com), do not do so.
It is a bogus link and the latest tactic used by scammers, police warned.
Selangor Commercial Crime Investigation Department (CCID) chief Asst Comm Muhammad Yazid Muhammad Yew said a 51-year-old woman in Petaling Jaya lost all her savings in her account after clicking the link and sharing her banking details.
“She lodged a police report at the Petaling Jaya police station on Wednesday.
“The victim received a text message supposedly from Public Bank with the link, saying that there was a high risk that her account was vulnerable.
“She then clicked on the link, followed the subsequent instructions and filled in her personal details as well as her online banking and password details. Her savings were gone soon after that, ” he said.
ACP Muhammad Yazid said two cases with losses amounting to RM33,500 have been recorded in Selangor so far.
He reminded the public not to click on the link.
