PETALING JAYA: There is a group of young officers within the police force that wants to destroy his image, claims Tan Sri Abdul Hamid Bador.
In an exclusive interview with Sinar Harian, Inspector-General of Police said the group of young officers are linked to the cartels and wished to dominate the national police force.
"There are attempts to humiliate and topple me by these groups (cartel).
"So, I would like to advise them, please stop their outrageous act. (They) must realise that the police force is not ours, and not our playing field," he said during the SinarLive programme with IGP on Wednesday (March 17).
The programme was moderated by veteran newsman Tan Sri Johan Jaffar at Kompleks Kumpulan Karangkraf.
Abdul Hamid made the remarks when asked about an internal group linked to cartels within the police force who wanted to take over so it will be easier for them to carry on "their dirty work."
Abdul Hamid explained that he was affected by the group and hoped that they "will repent."
"There are groups of young officers who will meet and they will talk about something... and act in such a manner.
"Towards finding a way on how their partners, who are in the same ranks with them, can go up together, and discuss bad things," he said.
"So, I ask them to please repent. When they reach the age of 60 years old, I fear they have no chance to repent, when we leave, we no longer enjoy the immunity in the blue uniform.
"We will wear public attire.
"Nobody will be scared of us when we do not wear our uniforms. At that point, please do not regret," he said.
Abdul Hamid, 62, was appointed for a two-year post-retirement contract as the IGP for a period of two years effective from May 4,2019 until May 3,2021.
