GOMBAK: An Orang Asli senior citizen, who was being treated at Hospital Selayang since early this month, was found dead stuck between pipes on the sixth floor of the hospital.
Gombak OCPD Asst Comm Arifai Tarawe said a technician received a report from the hospital staff of a bad odour coming from one of the rooms at the hospital at 6.20pm on Tuesday (March 9).
"He went to check the room and saw a hand dangling between the pipes.
"He then went to the sixth floor where he discovered the body of the 72-year-old," he said when contacted on Wednesday (March 10).
ACP Arifai said the technician informed the hospital's security and lodged a police report at the Selayang Hospital police beat base.
"Investigations revealed that the man was a patient who had been receiving treatment at one of the wards on March 1 and was reported missing since March 3.
"Personnel from the Fire and Rescue Department helped to take out the body lodged between the pipes.
"We are not ruling out the possibility that the victim might have fallen from an upper floor," he said.
The body had been sent for post-mortem, he added.
ACP Arifai urged those with information to contact investigating officer Sjn K. Maheswaran at 03-61262222 or 016-6722971.
