Recoveries once again outpace new cases

PETALING JAYA: The country has once again recorded more recoveries than new cases, with 3,275 recoveries.

Yesterday, 2,154 new Covid-19 cases were recorded, with six fatalities.

Health director-general Tan Sri Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah in his daily statement yesterday said that 22,034 Covid-19 cases were still active.

“Eighty-seven cases require assisted breathing with 184 being treated in ICU wards, ” he said.

On cluster updates, Dr Noor Hisham said of the 10 new clusters identified, eight were linked to workplaces.

In Selangor, the Jalan Zamrud construction site, Jalan Dato Sellathevan, Industri Cheras Jaya and Meranti Utama clusters were identified.

The Kampung Nyatoh cluster was identified in both Selangor and Negri Sembilan.

The Jalan Mutiara Barat cluster was also identified in Selangor as well as Kuala Lumpur

The Pesiaran Alam and the Perusahaan 10 clusters were identified in Kuala Lumpur and Penang respectively.

In Perak, the Jalan Senu cluster has been linked to religious activities whereas in Sabah, the Kuala Punteh cluster has been categorised as a community cluster.

“Currently, 488 clusters still remain active, ” he said.

Selangor once again recorded the highest daily Covid-19 cases, with 794.

“Of that, 666 were from active clusters and contract tracing, ” he said.
