Ministry eases school uniform rule

PETALING JAYA: Students without school uniforms will be given leeway when schools reopen on March 1.

The Education Ministry said students could wear “appropriate and decent clothing” to attend school until March 26.

“The mid-term school holidays start on March 26 and school will resume on April 4 or 5, depending on the state, ” it said in a statement.

The ministry said it had received many queries from parents asking about wearing of school uniforms to go back to school.

“Students must wear school uniforms to attend school. However, taking the current situation into consideration, students are allowed to wear appropriate clothing from March 1-26, ” it said.

The ministry said it hoped the decision would encourage the students to return to school for face-to-face lessons.
