BUTTERWORTH: Three teenagers, including one sitting for his SPM exam, were detained for riding their motorcycles dangerously on Jalan Lahar Kepar in Penaga here at 6.45pm on Monday (Feb 22).
North Seberang Prai OCPD Asst Comm Noorzainy Mohd Noor said the three were caught during "Op Samseng Jalanan" carried out between 6pm and 11pm.
"The teens were seen pulling wheelies from Kepala Batas heading to Jalan Lahar Kepar.
"They made a turn to Penaga at Jalan Lahar Kepar and we caught them there.
"The three teens are in Forms Three, Four and Five. One of them is currently sitting for his SPM examinations," he added.
He said they are being investigated under Section 42(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987 for reckless and dangerous driving.
"We urge the public – especially teenagers –not to turn Jalan Lahar Kepar into a race track. Do not endanger yourselves and other road users.
"We also urge parents to supervise their children. Do not let them ride motorcycles without a valid licence," he said.
