Covid-19: 2,720 new cases, eight fatalities bring death toll to 983

PUTRAJAYA: Malaysia recorded another 2,720 new Covid-19 cases on Tuesday (Feb 16), says the Health Ministry.

At a press conference here, Health director-general Tan Sri Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah also announced eight more people died due to Covid-19 while 5,718 people were discharged.

This is the highest number of recoveries in a single day so far.

Since the start of the pandemic, the country has now seen 269,165 Covid-19 infections and 224,053 recoveries.

Malaysia’s Covid-19 death toll is now up to 983.

There are currently 44,129 active Covid-19 cases nationwide, of which 253 are under intensive care, with 118 on ventilator support.
