Health Ministry: Twelve new Covid-19 clusters detected on Saturday (Feb 6)


PETALING JAYA: Twelve new Covid-19 clusters were recorded on Saturday (Feb 6), according to the Health Ministry.

Health director-general Tan Sri Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah said 11 of the clusters were linked to workplace transmissions.

Selangor recorded five new clusters – Gudan Salak Tinggi cluster, Industri Kampung Baru cluster, Lingkaran Cyber cluster, Jalan Banting-Klang cluster, and the Jalan Kuala Selangor cluster.

In Johor, three clusters were found - as the Jalan Bayu Satu cluster, Jalan Istimewa Tujuh cluster and the Jalan Tun Mutalib.

In Terengganu, two clusters were detected: the Gong Nering cluster and the Jalan Kubur Darau cluster.

In Kuala Lumpur and Sabah, one new cluster each known as the Jalan Sungai Besi construction site cluster and the Jalan Chester cluster, respectively, were detected.

In the Gudang Salak Tinggi cluster, the workplace cluster was identified through a workplace targeted screening involving a service company in Bandar Baru Salak Tinggi, Sepang. As of Saturday, 455 individuals have been screened, where 42 cases have tested positive.

In the Industri Kampung Baru cluster, cases in this workplace cluster tested positive for the virus after a targeted screening on three factories located in Kampung Baru, Sungai Buloh. In this cluster, 450 individuals have been screened, and 167 tested positive so far.

In the Jalan Banting-Klang cluster, positive cases were detected after a targeted screening on factories at Jalan Banting-Klang, and Telok Panglima Garang Industrial Estate, Kuala Langat. A total of 287 individuals have been screened, where 13 have tested positive.

In the Lingkaran Cyber cluster, the cases in this workplace cluster tested positive for the virus on Feb 5 following a targeted screening at a supermarket located in Lingkaran Cyber Point Timur, Cyberjaya, Sepang. 75 individuals have been tested and 24 have tested positive for the virus.

In the Jalan Kuala Selangor cluster, the index case of this cluster tested positive on Feb 6 following a close contact screening.

“The cluster is a school in Kampung Tanjong Karang, Jalan Kuala Selangor – Teluk Intan, Kuala Selangor. As of Feb 6,87 individuals have been tested and 11 tested positive, ” he said in a statement on Saturday (Feb 6).

In the Jalan Bayu Satu cluster, the workplace cluster was detected in Johor Baru involving a targeted screening at a factory located in Jalan Bayu Satu, Bandar Seri Alam, Masai.35 individuals have been screened where 18 have tested positive for the virus.

In the Jalan Istimewa Tujuh cluster, the index case of the cluster tested positive for the virus on Feb 2 through symptomatic individual screening.

“This cluster involves workers at a factory located at Jalan Istimewa, Taman Perindustrian Cemerlang, Ulu Tiram, Johor Bahru. So far, 92 individuals have been screened and 29 have tested positive, ” he said.

At the Jalan Tun Mutalib cluster, the workplace cluster was detected in Kota Tinggi, Johor where the index cases had tested positive on Jan 27 after a Covid-19 screening was conducted before he returned to his own country.

The cluster involves workers from a factory located in Jalan Tun Mutalib, Bandar Tenggara, Kota Tinggi. A total of 32 individuals have been screened where six have tested positive for the virus.

In the Gong Nering cluster, the workplace cluster was detected in Besut, Terengganu. The index case of the cluster tested positive for the virus on Jan 12 after symptomatic individual screening.

The cluster involves workers of a service company located at Kampung Gong Nering in Besut. So far, 183 individuals have been screened with 26 tested positive.

In the Jalan Kubur Darau cluster, a high-risk group cluster was detected in Besut, Terengganu. The index case of the cluster tested positive on Jan 28 after symptomatic individual screening.

The cluster involves family close contacts and social contacts at Jalan Kubur Darau and Kampung Raja in Besut. So far, 42 individuals have been screened and 15 have tested positive for the virus.

In the Jalan Sungai Besi construction site cluster, cases in this cluster tested positive for the virus through a targeted construction site screening at Jalan Sungai Besi. So far, 113 individuals have been screened and 12 tested positive.

In the Jalan Chester cluster, the workplace cluster was detected in Tawau, Sabah.

The index case of the cluster tested positive for the virus on Feb 2 after symptomatic individual screening.

The cluster involves workers at a gold shop at Jalan Chester, Tawau. So far, 19 individuals have been screened and 10 have tested positive.
