Cops arrest foreign drug pusher in Pulau Gaya, Sabah


KOTA KINABALU (Bernama): Police arrested a 20-year-old foreigner believed to have been actively involved in pushing drugs to addicts in Pulau Gaya here on Tuesday (Jan 26).

Kota Kinabalu police chief Asst Comm Habibi Manjanji said seven packets of syabu, weighing 56.48g and worth RM5,648, hidden in a black plastic bag were seized from the man during the arrest.

Also seized were a mobile phone and cash amounting to RM1,174.

"The man, however, tested negative for drugs and initial investigations showed that he has no previous criminal record.

"It is believed that he had been ‘working with’ a drug syndicate and getting paid around RM25 to RM30 per day, ” he said in a statement Thursday (Jan 28).

ACP Habibi said the case is being investigated under Section 39B of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952, which carries a mandatory death penalty upon conviction. - Bernama
