Ismail Sabri: EMCO at immigration detention depot in Pekan Nenas from Jan 23-Feb 5

PUTRAJAYA: An enhanced movement control order has been imposed on detention blocks, as well as staff quarters at the immigration detention depot in Pekan Nenas, Pontian in Johor beginning Saturday (Jan 23), says Senior Minister Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob.

He said that as of Jan 21, health authorities had carried out 360 screening tests, of which 177 came back positive for Covid-19.

“Following the advice of the Health Ministry, the National Security Council special meeting has agreed to enforce an EMCO at this locality from Jan 23 to Feb 5, ” he said on Friday (Jan 22).

Ismail Sabri said placing the immigration detention depot under the order would allow control in movement and avoid infecting staff, family and the outside community.
