KOTA KINABALU: Health officials moved in to clean up the bathrooms and toilets at the Likas Covid-19 low-risk quarantine centre here after some of its occupants highlighted the conditions on social media.
A man quarantined at the centre had earlier posted a picture on Facebook of him and three others cleaning the bathroom while complaining about the poor sanitary conditions there.
In his post, the man claimed that some of the sinks were clogged and dirty, and that rubbish was not collected since they were placed there under quarantine.
In a follow-up post on Tuesday, the man thanked the state Health Department for cleaning up the place, adding that he hoped the exercise would continue.
It was not the first time poor sanitary conditions at the bathrooms and toilets of quarantine centres had been highlighted.
Several others had brought up the unhygienic conditions and the lack of cleaning up through posts in social media.
Following this, Sabah Health director Datuk Dr Christina Rundi gave assurance that the matter would be looked into and resolved quickly.
