KUALA LUMPUR: Bukit Aman will take sterner action against any individual who violates the standard operating procedure (SOP) during the MCO that begins at 12.01am on Wednesday.
Inspector-General of Police Tan Sri Abdul Hamid Bador said the police are on standby to conduct enforcement operations nationwide, including setting up roadblocks.

“Compared to the MCO that was implemented on March 18 last year, we will be much more stern and firm in our actions.
“Some past weaknesses will be rectified to prevent or lessen the confusion of the people, but (there will be) firmer action, ” he said when contacted yesterday,
The IGP said the police would not compromise in taking action against anyone who violates the SOP or the regulations.
“The time to educate and advise has passed. We will take appropriate action against those who are still stubborn.
“The ample time given is sufficient for the rakyat to understand and adhere to the SOP as it is also the ‘new normal’, ” he added.
The police, according to the country’s top cop, are ready to enforce all rules and regulations set by the Health Ministry and the National Security Council (NSC).
