PETALING JAYA: Former Umno president Datuk Seri Najib Razak insists that the party has the voice of its grassroots as its priority.

He hit out at Tan Sri Annuar Musa, questioning the comments the just-removed Barisan Nasional secretary-general made at a press conference where he lashed out at Umno.

“If you are dissatisfied because you got sacked or do not agree with the views of the grassroots as well as almost all the Umno division chiefs in rejecting Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia, do not conduct a special press conference to make various accusations to aggravate the situation.

“Why would Umno work with DAP if the majority of the grassroots, as well as division chiefs, reject DAP?” Najib said in a Facebook post yesterday.

In the post, he uploaded a screenshot of previous news articles on Umno’s grassroots opposing any cooperation with DAP, as well as news that 189 out of 191 divisions had rejected Bersatu.

He also posted a news article on Annuar’s claim that there was a movement in Umno working with DAP to form a new government.Earlier, Annuar had conducted a special press conference where he had said that he accepted his removal as Barisan secretary-general.

While accepting the decision by Barisan chairman Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi to remove him, Annuar said it was not in line with Barisan’s regulations. He said his removal from the post could not be done by the Umno president but through Barisan, adding that he had not received anything official in writing on his removal.
