MAIWP AID FOR THE POOR

THE Federal Territories Islamic Religious Council (MAIWP) has provided 30 zakat schemes with a total allocation of RM400mil to the underprivileged community (asnaf) this year.

MAIWP chairman Datuk Seri Syed Hussien Alhabshee said the zakat (tithe) schemes cover education, medical expenses, entrepreneurship and lodging for the asnaf in Kuala Lumpur, Putrajaya and Labuan, adding that last year the council offered 28 zakat schemes.
