Zahid: Name of new MB candidate submitted to Perak Sultan, Palace to make announcement

IPOH: Umno president Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi believes they have “more than enough” support for the candidate to be the next Perak Mentri Besar.

Speaking to reporters after seeking an audience with Perak’s Sultan Nazrin Muizzuddin Shah on Tuesday (Dec 8), Zahid said he has presented the majority of support to His Royal Highness.

“I have presented a letter to the Sultan for him to consider the candidate for the Perak Mentri Besar’s post.

“The name will be announced by his Royal Highness, and any statements will be made by the palace, ” he said.

“I am confident that we have more than enough support, ” he added.

When asked whether the support also came from PAS and Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia (Bersatu), Zahid said if it was possible, they wanted to defend the Perikatan Nasional coalition.

“We want Umno, PAS and Bersatu to form the state government, ” he added.
