Tan apologises to Annuar over DBKL land sale blunder

KUALA LUMPUR: DAP national chairman Tan Kok Wai has formally apologised to Tan Sri Annuar Musa after falsely claiming that 42 assets owned by Kuala Lumpur City Hall (DBKL) were sold during his tenure as the Federal Territories Minister.

According to Annuar, the Cheras MP delivered an apology letter after making a surprise visit to the Ketereh MP office yesterday.

“I received a surprise visit by Tan in my office earlier. He handed a letter of apology and retraction of his statement on Nov 18.

“Thank you. I will refer to my lawyers, ” he said on Twitter yesterday.

During a press conference in Parliament on Nov 18, Tan claimed that 42 assets owned by DBKL were sold during Annuar’s tenure and demanded that he explain the alleged sale.

The following day, Annuar responded and denied the allegations made by Tan.

He threatened to take legal action, adding that he viewed such allegations seriously.

The sale of DBKL land came under scrutiny after the Public Accounts Committee (PAC) highlighted the matter on Nov 17.

PAC said that based on its proceedings, it found that DBKL did not have any standard operating procedure for the disposal or sale of its land.
