IPOH: No parties have confirmed their majority support for a new Mentri Besar candidate to the Perak Ruler, says Datuk Seri Mohamad Annuar Zaini.

The Dewan Negara Perak (the Advisory Council to the Ruler) said until Sultan Nazrin Muizzuddin Shah is convinced of a simple majority, no swearing-in will be conducted.

"At 3.15pm Tuesday (Dec 8), Pakatan Harapan leaders have met the Sultan, and His Royal Highness had summoned Perak Umno chairman Datuk Saarani Mohamad to meet him.

"Right now, we are waiting for them (political parties) to convince Sultan Nazrin," he said to reporters outside Istana Kinta.

When asked if Datuk Seri Dr Zambry Abdul Kadir was summoned with Saarani, Annuar said both had met Sultan Nazrin together.

"Saarani made the request for Zambry to meet Sultan Nazrin, and the request was granted," he said, adding that no parties have requested for an audience with the Sultan on Wednesday (Dec 9).

Annuar added that following Umno's audience with the Sultan on Tuesday, the party had presented the status of negotiations to form the new state government with various parties.
