Perak Perikatan has not set any terms regarding Shahrul as MB, says source

IPOH: Perak Perikatan Nasional has not set any terms stating that Rungkup assemblyman Datuk Shahrul Zaman Yahya (pic) must be appointed as the Mentri Besar, for them to support Umno to form the state government.

A source from Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia said no such terms were underlined.

“No lah, no such syarat (there are no such terms). Perikatan is working with Umno, and other parties at the Federal level and in many other states. Of course we are still with Perikatan, ” the source said via a WhatsApp message on Monday (Dec 7).

He was responding to an article from an online portal stating that amidst speculation that Umno and Pakatan Harapan could probably form a new coalition, Perikatan was still in negotiations with Umno to preserve the status quo.

Datuk Seri Ahmad Faizal Azumu had formally tendered his resignation as the Perak Mentri Besar on Saturday after losing a vote of confidence in the state assembly.

Shahrul then shot down speculation that he is among those in the running to be the next Mentri Besar through an Instagram post on Monday.

He had said that all 25 Umno and Barisan Nasional assemblymen have consensually nominated state party liaison chairman Datuk Saarani Mohamad for the post.
