PETALING JAYA: Religious TV personality Da’i Syed has been rearrested by the police as investigations into his alleged rape and molestation of multiple victims intensifies.
Petaling Jaya OCPD Asst Comm Nik Ezanee Mohd Faisal said they would apply for a remand order.
“Two police reports were lodged against him in this district so far, ” he said yesterday.
On Tuesday, Bukit Aman CID director Comm Datuk Huzir Mohamed said police had received seven reports against the 25-year-old celebrity preacher.
The police, he added, have opened investigation papers for rape, unnatural sex and molest.
“He would chat with the victims through direct messaging on the app before asking them out for meals to discuss various things, including business matters.
“Then he would come up with various excuses to take them home, ” Comm Huzir said then.
The suspect, a former reality TV contestant, was detained for allegedly raping a 23-year-old woman in Shah Alam.
He is alleged to have taken the victim to a restaurant and to his home to supposedly give her tips on how to cure her depression, before raping her.
