Motion of confidence for Perak MB will be tabled during upcoming state assembly sitting, says Speaker

IPOH: A motion of confidence to support Datuk Seri Ahmad Faizal Azumu (pic) as the Perak Mentri Besar will be tabled during the upcoming state assembly sitting, says the Perak Speaker.

Datuk Mohamad Zahir Abdul Khalid said the motion was filed by Pengkalan Baru assemblyman Datuk Abdul Manaf Hashim.

“A confidence motion is not something bizarre or weird and since the application followed all the requirements, it will be table during the sitting.

“The motion is to support the Chenderiang assemblymen as the current state Mentri Besar, ” he told reporters at the state secretariat building here on Monday (Nov 30).

He said the third Perak assembly would be held from Dec 4 until Dec 11.

“During the five days of the assembly, Faizal will table the state 2021 budget on (Friday) Dec 4.

“Debates among the assemblymen regarding the budget will be conducted from Dec 8 and Dec 9, ” he said, adding that the sitting will be conducted accordingly to the Covid-19 standard operation procedures (SOP).

“Those who are involved with the sitting including assemblymen, state department directors and media must undergo a Covid-19 swab test.

“Face-masks must be worn at all times during the sitting and hand sanitisers will be provided, ” he said.

He added that for now, only official media outlets are allowed to cover the sitting at the building.

“We acknowledge the request by other members of the media to cover the sitting. However, we will need to refer to the Health Ministry and National Security Council first as we are still under the conditional MCO.

“The assembly will be live-streamed via our Youtube channel and portal. The live stream is accessible for everyone including members of the public, ” he said.
