KTMB extends 50% discount promotion on ETS, Intercity tickets to Nov 16

PETALING JAYA: Keretapi Tanah Melayu Bhd (KTMB) has extended the 50% discount promotion period on fares of its Electric Train Service (ETS) and KTM Intercity train services to Nov 16.

In a statement, KTMB said passengers can buy their tickets starting 9am on Saturday (Oct 31).

"The extension was done as a token of appreciation to all our passengers," it said.

KTMB said train tickets can be purchased on its website, ktmb.com.my or through the KTMB Mobile App (KITS).

The extension also comes after Transport Minister Datuk Seri Dr Wee Ka Siong requested the train service provider to extend the promotion period following an extension of the conditional movement control order (MCO) in the Klang Valley until Nov 9.

KTMB's promotion period was supposed to have also ended on Nov 9.

Earlier, Wee said he had instructed KTMB to extend the promotion period so that more people may be able to enjoy it for up to a week after the conditional MCO in Kuala Lumpur, Selangor and Putrajaya ends.

He said he was called to propose an extension after reading a post on Datuk Seri Najib Razak's Facebook page that pointed out that the original last day of KTMB's promotion coincided with the last day of the conditional MCO in the Klang Valley.

Dr Wee also announced the extension of the promotion period on his own Facebook page.

The discount is applicable for all destinations covered by KTMB but passengers in conditional MCO zones must have permission to travel interstate.

The ETS and KTM Intercity train services can take passengers to Tumpat, Johor Bahru, Gemas, Ipoh, Butterworth and Padang Besar.

Any enquiries on the promotion can be directed to KTMB's call centre at 03-2267 1200 or through its other official channels.
