MELAKA: Kuala Linggi candidate Muhammad Mukhlisul Mubin Julasapiyah had a light-hearted moment on the campaign trail when several traders addressed him as “YB”, or Yang Berhormat.
The 24-year-old, who is the youngest candidate in the state polls this year, said of his visit to the Permatang night market: “Some (traders) even greeted me as YB.”
“I told them, not yet,” said the Pakatan Harapan candidate.
Speaking on the Kuala Linggi state constituency, where he is contesting, Muhammad Mukhlisul Mubin said he believes the area has tremendous potential for development.
The Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia law graduate has drawn attention over his age and political experience, with questions raised about his suitability to contest the seat.
He faces incumbent Datuk Rosli Abdullah of Barisan Nasional and Dr Nur Farhana Hamzah of Parti Bersama Malaysia.
Meanwhile, affordable housing and better-paying jobs will be among the main priorities in Pakatan’s election manifesto, says Adly Zahari.
The state coalition chairman said focus will also be on supporting small entrepreneurs and students, as well as ensuring aid accessibility and transparency.
“Progress must reach the people’s dinner table, not just be displayed on stage at launch ceremonies.”
