Two areas in Sandakan to be under enhanced MCO from Oct 28-Nov 10


PETALING JAYA: Two localities in Sandakan, Sabah will be placed under the enhanced movement control order (MCO) for two weeks from Wednesday (Oct 28) until Nov 10, says Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob.

The Senior Minister (Security) said that the areas affected are Taman Mesra and Taman Mawar and added that it will involve 5,100 homes and 22,500 people.

“The SOP will be the same as announced before this. However, grocery stores will be allowed to operate from 6am to 6pm so that locals could purchase their essentials, ” he said during his daily press briefing on the Covid-19 situation on Monday (Oct 26).

Ismail Sabri also said that the enhanced MCO in Taman Khazanah Indah and Pangsapuri Mutiara Kasih in Lahad Datu, and Felda Umas in Kalabakan would be extended for another two weeks from Oct 27 until Nov 9.

In recent weeks, Sabah has been the epicentre of the outbreak in the country.
