Suitcase murder: Jealousy, financial woes believed to be motives, say Sibu cops

SIBU: Jealousy and financial problems are believed to be the reasons behind the gruesome murder of a woman whose body was found stuffed into a suitcase and dumped on Jalan Aman here.

"We believe that jealousy and financial problems prompted the two suspects to kill the woman,"said Sibu OCPD Asst Comm Stanley Jonathan Ringgit.

He said police were still investigating the death of Heng Meow Lin, 37, from Perak, whose body was found by a passerby at about 6.45am on Oct 6.

"As the case is still under investigation, we are unable to reveal much," he said.

ACP Stanley said a postmortem done on the body showed that the victim succumbed to asphyxia and head injury due to blunt force trauma.

"There were also struggle marks on her neck and body, indicating that she was being choked and beaten," he added.

Heng leaves behind a 16-year old daughter who is in Perak.

Meanwhile, the two suspects, a man and a woman, had their remand extended for another seven days by the Magistrate's Court until Oct 19.

The duo, both aged 37, were arrested in a house on Jalan Tong Sang on Oct 6 in connection with the case.

The case has been classified as murder under Section 302 of the Penal Code.
