Time to renew road tax and driving licence


PETALING JAYA: Today is the last day to renew road tax and driving licences expired during the movement control order (MCO) period.

The Road Transport Department (JPJ) said the 70% discount on its summons would also expire today.

“The discounts and respite to renew expired road tax and driving licences during the MCO period will end on Sept 30.

“The people should get it done early to avoid a last minute rush,” it said on its Facebook page yesterday.

On June 17, JPJ assured that more than two million people, whose driving licences and road tax had expired during the MCO period that no action would be taken against them.

On Aug 29, Transport Minister Datuk Seri Dr Wee Ka Siong said the deadline was extended to Sept 30 after taking into consideration the hardships and financial problems faced by the people due to the Covid-19 pandemic.
