Bukit Aman seizes 210kg of marijuana, two arrested in Tapah rest area

TAPAH: Bukit Aman Narcotics policemen have seized about 210kg of marijuana and arrested two people at a rest and restoration service area near here.

Perak deputy police chief Deputy Comm Datuk Goh Boon Keng said the arrest and seizure was made on Sept 2 at about 10.30am.

"The 47-year-old man and a 32-year-old woman are believed to be a couple.

"We found the drugs in eight large gunny sacks at the back of the multi-purpose vehicle they were in," he told reporters at district police station here today (Sept 4).

"The drugs are estimated to be worth more than RM500,000," said DCP Goh, adding that both suspects are being remanded for seven days until Sept 9.

The case is being investigated under Section 39B of the Dangerous Act 1952 that carries a mandatory death sentence upon conviction.
