81-year-old man that caused Covid-19 scare in Sentul police station, not infected

KUALA LUMPUR: The man that caused a Covid-19 scare that led to the partial closure of the Sentul police station, was not infected with the virus.

Sentul OCPD Asst Comm S. Shanmugamoorthy said the 81-year-old man went to the police station around 10.20am on Wednesday (Aug 19).

"Aside from the policemen, the man was the only person at the information counter.

"The policemen on duty observed that the man had trouble breathing and he was coughing. He is also believed to have been discharged from the hospital recently," he said when contacted.

Hospital Kuala Lumpur was informed immediately and they brought the man in around 11am.

"Based on the advice of hospital personnel, we decided to close the police station temporarily while waiting for results from the hospital," he said.

Efforts to sanitise the police station were conducted and all personnel were not allowed to leave the premises pending results from the hospital, he added.

"Around 2.20pm, we were informed that the patient was not a Covid-19 patient and he was just a regular patient that had been admitted to the hospital previously.

"The station will operate as normal from 4pm onwards after the second round of sanitisation," he said.
