Cops haul up 20 for not wearing masks while gathering at R&R

BUTTERWORTH: Police hauled up 20 individuals who failed to wear a face mask while gathering at a rest and relax area (R&R) here in Bagan Ajam at 1.50am on Saturday (Aug 1).

North Seberang Prai OCPD Asst Comm Noorzainy Mohd Noor said the 20 individuals, all of whom are in their 20s, gathered without wearing masks and did not observe social distancing.

"They were all issued with an RM1,000 compound for failing to observe physical distancing and for not wearing masks under Rule 10 of the Prevention and Control of Infectious Diseases (Measures within the Infected Local Areas) Regulations," he said.

He warned that the police would not compromise with anyone who failed to adhere to the SOP, saying they would be monitoring the usage of face masks.
