KUALA LUMPUR: The mood outside the Duta Court Complex, which was jubilant earlier, turned solemn as supporters learned of Datuk Seri Najib Razak's guilty verdict Tuesday (July 28).

The supporters, mostly clad in blue and red, were emotional as the former premier was found guilty on all seven charges levelled against him.

Veteran actor Sulaiman Yassin, better known as "Mat Over", said he was disappointed over the verdict.

"This is nothing but a political decision.

"I feel that he (Najib) was sabotaged in an unfair political game," he said when met outside the court complex on Tuesday.

However, there is nothing left to do but to accept the verdict, he added.

"I hope the parliament can be dissolved soon so that Datuk Seri Najib receives the justice he deserves.

"The verdict is definitely not fair," he added.

Sulaiman, who is an Umno supporter, said Najib's contributions to the nation and the people were massive.

"He has done a lot of good for the country and its people," he said.

Wangsa Maju Division Wanita chief Noriah Ibrahim said she had feared for the worst prior to the verdict being rendered, but she still insisted on coming to court to show her support for Najib.

"I am very angry over the decision.

"I have supported him since his cases started in 2018 until now. I supported him not for the glamour or money but for the sake of ensuring a brighter future for future generations," she said in between tears.

It is very disappointing that a former prime minister is being slandered in such a manner, she added.

Noriah said it was heartening that Najib still had a chance to appeal the decision."Alhamdulillah,

he still has a chance to clear his name at the Appeals Court and Federal Court.

"We will pray for the best outcome for him," she said.

Asmah Sulaiman, a Wanita Umno leader from Sungai Besar, said Najib's contributions to the country could not be compared.

"His leadership has led the country to many successes. I am very disappointed with the verdict," she said.
