Mandatory 14-day quarantine costs RM4,700 per person

PUTRAJAYA: The average cost for each individual undergoing mandatory 14-day quarantine is RM4,700, says Senior Minister Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob.

He said Malaysian citizens were only required to pay a maximum of RM2,100.

"This includes hotel room charges and three meals a day. The payment is 44.7% of the total cost.

"The government bears the remaining cost of 56.3%, or RM2,600.

"This covers among other things, transportation cost from the country's entry point to the quarantine stations, meals and personal protection equipment for health staff," he said on Tuesday (July 28).

Also included in the cost is security secretariat, cleaning and decontamination services at quarantine stations.
