PETALING JAYA: The government is set to provide e-vouchers to assist parents who order childcare services online, says Prime Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin.
According to Muhyiddin, income tax exemptions up to RM3,000 will also be given to parents who use the services of nursery homes and kindergartens.
These two initiatives will fall under the purview of the Women, Family and Community Development Ministry, the Welfare Department and the Inland Revenue Board, added Muhyiddin.
The measures are also aimed at encouraging parents to start sending their children back to kindergartens.
Muhyiddin earlier unveiled a host of measures in the government’s Short-Term Economic Recovery Plan aimed at alleviating the worst effects of the Covid-19 pandemic.
On Tuesday (June 2), Finance Minister Tengku Datuk Seri Zafrul Abdul Aziz said the plan would focus on three key objectives, namely to empower people, propel businesses, and stimulate the economy.
According to Tengku Zafrul, the Short-Term Economic Recovery Plan is the fourth of the six-phase 6R approach (Resolve, Resilience, Restart, Recovery, Revitalise and Reform) in weathering the health and economic challenges due to the Covid-19 pandemic.
