PUTRAJAYA: The RM1 fee exemption for cash withdrawals is still on even with operating hours for ATMs reverting to normal, says Senior Minister Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob (pic).

“We have not received any request from banks to start charging the RM1 fee again. So, the exemption is still in place and the public can continue to enjoy the service for free for now, ” he said on Monday (June 1).

The minister was asked whether the exemption for cash withdrawal charges has been stopped now that the government has allowed ATM operating hours to be reverted to normal as per banks’ practices.

The operating hours had been restricted between 8am and 8pm during the movement control order (MCO) and conditional MCO as part of the government’s efforts to break the Covid-19 infection chain.

In April, Putrajaya had exempted the RM1 charge in an effort to avoid crowding at the over-the-counter-teller service during the MCO.
