Govt offices, counter services to fully open soon, says Ismail Sabri

PUTRAJAYA: All government offices and counter services will be fully opened soon, says Senior Minister Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob (pic).

He said that the Cabinet decided this at its weekly meeting on Wednesday (May 13).

"Standard operating procedures will be in place and must be followed by those who are seeking services from government offices," he said on Wednesday (May 13).

Ismail Sabri said apart from social distancing, government premises will be sanitised and hand sanitisers provided for customers.

On another matter, he said the Transport Ministry would present a proposal on how transport operators can operate without suffering losses as they adhere to standard operating procedures during the movement control order.

He said the special Cabinet committee on non-health related issues involving the MCO were told of complaints regarding fare hikes.

This is because transport operators who are ensuring that there is social distancing between customers cannot operate at the same passenger capacity as before.

He said that for example, certain companies are charging double the usual rate for bus tickets in Sabah as well as hikes in airfares.
