PETALING JAYA: Foreigners who had overstayed from Jan 1 until 14 days after the conclusion of the movement control order (MCO) are allowed to leave the country without repercussions, says the Immigration Department.
However, this leeway is only granted to those who had entered with a social visit pass.
"They are allowed to return to their country of origin without obtaining a special pass from the Immigration Department.
"Action will not be taken against those who leave within this time frame. They will also not be blacklisted," said Immigration director-general Datuk Khairul Dzaimee Daud in a statement Tuesday (May 5).
However, foreigners who entered with a Visit Pass - Temporary Employment (PLKS), must still follow the rules at hand to return to their country of origin.
He added that overstayers who do not leave within 14 days after the completion of the MCO must get proof and justification from their respective embassies as to why they could not leave.
Failure to do so, he said, will lead to action taken, and being black listed.
