Food delivery rider, security guard in a punch up over parking

SHAH ALAM: A food delivery rider and a security guard got into a bloodied fight all because of a misunderstanding over parking.

The incident, which had gone viral on social media, occurred around 7.15pm on labour day at an apartment complex at Setia Alam.

Pictures were uploaded on Facebook showing the rider bleeding from the side of his head as well as pictures of a security guard with blood on his uniform carrying a chain.

Shah Alam OCPD Asst Comm Baharudin Mat Taib said the incident occurred following a misunderstanding over where the rider parked his motorcycle.

"The security guard attempted to lock the motorcycle and a fight occurred between the two.

"Both men suffered injuries to their head and body and received medical treatment at a nearby hospital," he said in a statement on Saturday (May 2).

He said both men lodged police reports over the issue and police recorded their statements.

"We are investigating the case under Section 160 of the Penal Code for committing an affray.

"We have referred the investigation papers to the deputy public prosecutor for further action," he said.

ACP Baharudin urged the public to abide by the law and never take matters into their own hands.

"We also urge the public to refrain from speculating on the case and allow justice to take its course," he said.
