KUALA LUMPUR: Foreign missions whose nationals are affected by the enhanced movement control order (MCO), imposed on two flats at Jalan Masjid India, will be notified, says Tan Sri Annuar Musa (pic).
The Federal Territories Minister said most of the residents at the Selangor Mansion and Malayan Mansion flats are from Pakistan, India and Bangladesh, thus the ministry will cooperate with their High Commissions.
"We will cooperate with them in relaying the information on the enhanced MCO to the residents.
"We will also include their representatives in the ministry's security meetings," he told reporters after visiting the affected area on Tuesday (April 7).
Information on the enhanced MCO will be broadcast via loud hailers to the residents in the languages of the three nationalities as well, he added.
"We hope all residents in the two flats will give their full cooperation.
"The residents are deemed 'Person Under Investigation' (PUI) for Covid-19," Annuar said.
So far, 90 people had been tested on Monday (April 7) while 300 more will undergo the same process on Tuesday, he added.
"We have 15 positive cases from the area so far," he said.
On the possibility that the residents will be relocated due to overcrowding, Annuar said it will depend on whether cases here spike and if it's recommended by the Health Ministry.
"We have information that there are units where 20 to 30 people are living in.
"On normal days, those who work the day shift will go out while the night shift return home but during the enhanced MCO, all will be home," he said.
Among those present during the press conference near the two flats were Kuala Lumpur police chief Comm Datuk Seri Mazlan Lazim and Dang Wangi OCPD Asst Comm Mohd Fahmi Visuvanathan Abdullah.
