PUTRAJAYA: The Health Ministry will come up with a standard operating procedure on how to enforce the enhanced movement control order (MCO) in areas identified, says Senior Minister Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri.
He said the ministry is still evaluating how to more effectively enforce the enhanced MCO and focus on the affected areas.
Giving the example of a village affected by Covid-19, he said they would close down all villages within a 5km radius, but added that this was impractical in high-density areas.
“We will see how we can improve this. Bear in mind, the enhanced MCO is a total lockdown. The people in the affected areas cannot leave their houses, ” he said on Monday (April 6).
Ismail Sabri, who is also Defence Minister, was asked if the enhanced MCO would be enforced in other areas, including Lembah Pantai, which has been declared a red zone.
He said as Lembah Pantai was a high-density area, authorities would have to figure out how to enforce it and the areas that would be placed in lockdown.
To date, the enhanced MCO has been enforced in three areas – Kg Lui in Hulu Langat, Menara City One in Jalan Munshi Abdullah, Kuala Lumpur, as well as Kampung Datuk Ibrahim Majid and Bandar Baharu Datuk Ibrahim Majid in Simpang Renggam.
