Sabah to give one-off RM300 aid to agriculture, food industry workers

Datuk Junz Wong.

KOTA KINABALU: All those involved in agriculture and food industries will get a RM300 one-off aid from the Sabah Agriculture and Food Industries Ministry.

Its minister Datuk Junz Wong said fishermen, farmers, rubber tappers and anyone contributing to the food supply industry are eligible for this assistance.

“All those registered under my ministry can come forward and give us your details including bank account numbers, ” he said in a statement here on Sunday (April 5).

Wong said those interested can contact the related agencies according to the sectors they are in at their respective districts.

Those who are not registered under the ministry but are also involved in similar sectors of trade can also come forward to apply for the assistance, he said.

He said each applicant would only get the assistance once, even if he is involved in various sectors of agriculture and food industries.

Wong said apart from this short-term assistance, the ministry is also looking up holistic measures to solve problems including crop harvesting, logistics and marketing faced by these industry players.

He urged the public to apply and make use of the various other initiatives drawn up by both the state and federal governments to help them through this difficult period amid the Covid-19 pandemic.
