KEPALA BATAS: A 20-year-old who was high on drugs was arrested at a roadblock near R&R Bagan Ajam on the seventh day of the movement control order (MCO).

The man was riding a motorcycle and claimed that he was on his way home when he was stopped by police and army personnel Tuesday (March 24) at about 11.40am.

A police constable manning the roadblock noticed that the man was behaving suspiciously, and this led to North Seberang Prai OCPD Noorzainy Mohd Noor ordering his men to detain and check the suspect.

"When he was stopped, the police saw a plastic bag containing a box. The suspect claimed it was his vape. However, when checked, the item was not a vape but an apparatus to take drugs," said ACP Noorzainy

He said that the police also found two small transparent packets containing drugs on the suspect, adding that the drugs were believed to be syabu.

ACP Noorzainy added that the suspect admitted that he is out on bail and has been charged under Section 39A (1) of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952.

The case is being classified under Section 12(2) of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952 for drug possession.
