PETALING JAYA: Wisma Putra is awaiting confirmation from Saudi Arabia on the suspension of entry for umrah pilgrimages and for travellers from countries affected by the Covid-19 outbreak.

In a tweet on Thursday (Feb 27), Wisma Putra said that an official statement would be released soon.

Saudi Arabia had temporarily suspended entry into the country for umrah and visits to the Al-Masjid an-Nabawi in Medina, its foreign affairs ministry announced on Thursday (Feb 27).

This is due to fears of the spread of Covid-19, which has a global death toll of 2,800 and a total of 82,163 cases as of 11am on Thursday.
