PETALING JAYA: Among the visitors to StarProperty Fair 2019,11 found themselves winning attractive prizes for the homebuyers’ contest, with one of them taking home a brand new Proton X70.

Wong Yim Kit, 44, was declared the winner of the top prize worth RM99,800, as part of StarProperty’s Beli & Menang contest.

“My wife and I were just shopping at IOI Mall in Puchong and we found a property that was situated in a good location, so we purchased it.

“Since there was the Home Ownership Campaign which offered a 10% discount, I thought I would buy a property to gain some rental income, ” said Wong at the prize-giving ceremony at Menara Star here yesterday.

The manager of an automotive company, who had been planning to buy an SUV this year, is thanking his lucky stars for the new set of wheels.

“I was contacted about winning a prize in the contest a few days before, so I cancelled all my appointments to come here. I didn’t expect to be the ‘luckiest one’ to get the Proton X70, ” said a beaming Wong.

The 10 other winners walked away with prizes such as a Philips 55-inch ultra slim smart UHD television, a two-door Samsung Fridge and a Sharp 9kg top-load washer.

The Beli & Menang contest ran from February to November last year, with house buyers being eligible to submit their entries just by booking their home at StarProperty Fair, sending a copy of their Sale and Purchase Agreement and describing what “home” meant to them.

Star Media Group chief executive officer Andreas Vogiatzakis said StarProperty Fair had been a major hit with property developers and home buyers.

“Last year, out of 13 property fairs, we managed to get RM100mil worth of property bookings.

“The price range was from RM230,000 to RM900,000 which is really the sweet spot, as those are the properties the developers have a hard time selling.

“Where the property sector is concerned, Star Media Group is a pillar of strength when it comes to the information that we give and how we bring together buyers as well as sellers and agents, ” he said.

StarProperty assistant general manager Ernest Towle said property developers and buyers could continue to expect better offerings from upcoming StarProperty fairs and projects.

“This year, we are very focused on helping developers reach, engage and connect with potential buyers.

“We are creating a lot of fairs throughout the Klang Valley and Johor to reach out to groups that are still interested to buy and to see what necessary steps they can take to buy their first homes or upgrade to better homes.

“We believe that property is evergreen. It is only a question of where, what and when, ” he said.

For this year’s StarProperty homebuyers’ contest, “Buy & Win”, lucky winners stand a chance to win trips to Greece, Japan or South Korea.

The next StarProperty Fair will be held at Starling Mall here from Feb 13 to 16. Visit or the StarProperty Facebook page for more information.

Fair visitors can also participate in the “Visit & Win” contest, where holiday trips to Perth, Jeju or Bali are up for grabs.
