Truth hurts, says Zuraida's rep in reply to show-cause letter

PETALING JAYA: The truth is the defence and the truth hurts, says Zuraida Kamaruddin's political secretary Hizwan Ahmad while sending his boss' reply to the show-cause letter issued to her by PKR's disciplinary committee.

Representing the Housing and Local Government Minister, who was at a Cabinet meeting, Hizwan said she had answered all the allegations made in the show-cause letter issued to the PKR vice-president on Jan 18.

"Today was the last day for the reply and Zuraida answered the three issues addressed to her in the show-cause letter as well as the sub-questions in a calm manner.

"Her defence was the truth and as the chosen vice-president, she decided to reply the letter. The truth hurts.

"The disciplinary committee chairman Datuk Ahmad Kassim was not present and I handed it to three other staff.

"We have answered to all allegations and I pointed out that the show-cause letter was "cacat" (not proper)," said Hizwan.

He also said that contrary to claims, there is currently no legal action of any kind issued by the party against Zuraida.

"Zuraida will continue with her party and ministerial duties and we will wait for the next step by the disciplinary committee," said Hizwan, who was protected by bodyguards.

Two groups of youths and PKR members faced off as Hizwan entered PKR headquarters.

"The groups outside here for and against Zuraida is part of the democracy process," said Hizwan.

Meanwhile, Penggerak Muafakat, a PKR-friendly NGO said that they want Zuraida to be sacked from the party over her speech criticising PKR president Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim at a dinner function on Dec 8.

Zainurizzaman Moharam, who spoke for the NGO, said that a police report will be made over Zuraida.

On Jan 18, Zuraida was issued with a show-cause letter and was given 14 days to respond.

Zuraida was asked to respond to a list of issues including the content of a speech at a PKR gathering at Renaissance Hotel on Dec 8.

In her speech at the “Shared Prosperity Vision” dinner, the party vice-president claimed that Anwar had tried to convince her that it was deputy president Datuk Seri Mohamed Azmin Ali in the sex video that went viral in June 2019.

The dinner was organised by Azmin shortly after those aligned to his faction boycotted the final day of the party’s national congress in Melaka.

The party has in recent months been split into two factions, one supporting Anwar and the other supporting Azmin, ever since a sex video purportedly featuring the latter was circulated by a team allegedly led by PKR members from Anwar's faction.

Zuraida has openly sided with Azmin.
