Student awards now open for applications

PETALING JAYA: The Education Ministry’s National Student Awards is now open for applications.

The closing date is Jan 31.

This year’s winner will receive a full scholarship to pursue a master’s degree in any top institution in the world, said the ministry’s holistic student division director Dr Zaid Omar.

The annual award is aimed at recognising and rewarding the best student activists and celebrating their achievements and contributions in various fields, he added.

“Applications are currently open to students in higher education, irrespective of the classification of their institution (public university/private institute/ polytechnics/community colleges).

“Students can apply at, ” he added.

Entering its seventh year, Zaid said the awards constitute 18 categories, with some new ones introduced this year such as Anugerah Khas Kepimpinan Ibnu Ummi Maktum (for students with disabilities) and the Best Postgraduate Society Award.

“Of the 18 category winners, only one will be crowned the overall National Student Icon, ” he added.

The ceremony will take place at Universiti Tun Hussein Onn Malaysia in Johor on March 28.
