No flag fiasco: It's not a flag but a logo, says Taekwondo Selangor

PETALING JAYA: Taekwondo Selangor, the organisers of the 2020 CK Classic Taekwondo Championship, have clarified that what was displayed on the Facebook page of the event is not a flag, but merely a logo.

Taekwondo Selangor organising chairman C.K. Karan said in a statement that it was merely a logo created to embody both Malaysia and Selangor, being the host country and state for the event.

"At no time was this done by accident, nor (was it) a mishap. It was done on purpose, using a five-pointed star to show that the event is hosted in Selangor, and also that the participants represent the five continents.

"We reiterate that this is not our Jalur Gemilang, but a logo, and we hope many will share our view on this.

"We have carried this logo for a long time, as this is our 14th edition championship in 2020.

"This was done on purpose, (and) not an ignorant act.

"Our objective for this event is to create an international platform for local athletes to

compete.

"Having said that, moving forward we will change the star to appease many.

"We are, after all, Anak Malaysia, and we would like to stay united with our beloved country by doing the right thing," he said.
