PONTIAN: DAP has disputed MCA President Datuk Seri Dr Wee Ka Siong’s claim that its 42 MPs were silent about voicing out issues concerning Malaysians in Parliament.

In a statement issued Saturday (Nov 9), Kota Melaka MP Khoo Poay Tiong (pic) said Dr Wee should back up his claims.

“As far as DAP is concerned, indeed, we have 42 MPs. 11 of the MPs are ministers and deputy ministers who have diligently carried out their parliamentary duties by providing answers to all questions raised by the opposition.

“The remaining 31 MPs are backbenchers who have been actively participating in debates and question sessions.”

On Friday (Nov 8), Dr Wee said that DAP lacked the political courage to voice on the grievances of the rakyat in Parliament despite having 42 MPs.

Khoo explained that as a DAP MP, he has raised various public grievances in Parliament.

“DAP MPs have also spoke out on various public interest issues outside of Parliament, ” he added.
