KUALA LUMPUR: Don't blame the Attorney-General for anything, as you did not blame your boss for stealing and making Umno lose, Prime Minister Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad tells Umno president Datuk Seri Ahmad Zahid Hamidi.
"Previously, when people stole money, he (Ahmad Zahid) did not blame anyone.
"Only now he remembers to blame (others).
"When you want to blame anyone, ask yourself why did you lose (the last general election)?
"You lost because you did not blame your boss (Datuk Seri Najib Razak)," said Dr Mahathir.
The Prime Minister said this when asked to respond to Zahid's speech during the ongoing Tanjung Piai by-election campaign, where he said there was injustice by A-G Tan Sri Tommy Thomas.
He was speaking to the media after he and his wife Tun Dr Siti Hasmah were awarded honorary doctorates on creative arts by Akademi Seni Budaya dan Warisan Kebangsaan (Aswara) in conjunction with its 15th convocation on Thursday (Nov 7).
On Nov 6, Zahid reportedly questioned the acquittal of a woman who was charged with the death of eight teenage cyclists in Johor in 2017.
In his ceramah, Zahid also blamed Tommy for the release of suspects in the death of firefighter Muhammad Adib Mohd Kassim last year during a fracas at a temple in Seafield.
