Police hunting down suspects behind killing of stray dogs in Kota Kemuning

PETALING JAYA: Police are hunting down the suspects who are believed to have killed a few stray dogs in Kota Kemuning.

Shah Alam OCPD Asst Comm Baharudin Mat Taib said that the police received a report about the incident from a woman who had been bringing them food on Jalan Anggerik Mokara 31/57 and Jalan Anggerik Mokara 31/58.

"She would come to the area daily at around 5pm to feed about 15 stray dogs there because she pitied them. She would drive about 6km from her home to the area to feed them table scraps mixed with dog biscuits.

“However, when she did so on Sunday (Oct 27), she found three of them dead and was later told by a man in the area that he had also found two more dead dogs near the food court on Jalan Anggerik Mokara 31/50," he said.

ACP Baharudin said the 49-year-old housewife found the dogs bleeding from their noses and ears and later buried them with help from a friend.

She also washed away the blood around the areas where they were found dead.

The woman's grisly discovery had also spread on social media with many speculating that the dogs had been shot.

However, ACP Baharudin said that the initial investigation found no empty bullet casings in the area.

"There were no witnesses and a guard at a nearby factory only claimed to have heard fireworks and said that it was always raining," ACP Baharudin said.

The remains of the five dead dogs were sent to the Universiti Putra Malaysia Teaching Hospital to find the actual cause of their deaths.

"We are on the case so please do not speculate further about the incident," he said.

Those with information on the case can contact Insp Elaine Lee at 016-239 8565 or 03-5520 2222.
