KUALA LUMPUR: A total of 507 summonses were issued during a joint operation between Kuala Lumpur Traffic Investigation and Enforcement Department and other agencies.
Most of the offences were for driving without a licence or expired ones.
City police chief Comm Datuk Seri Mazlan Lazim said 730 vehicles were inspected at four locations – Jalan Raja Laut, Jalan Semarang, Jalan Tuanku Abdul Rahman and Jalan Bangsar on Sunday night.
“We seized 27 motorcycles and five cars for offences including illegal modifications, and plate numbers that did not follow specifications,” he said after the three-hour operation.
“Some motorists were issued with notices to present their vehicles for inspection for having loud exhaust pipes, not having side mirrors, and other offences.
“We will identify the shops supplying such exhaust pies and illegal number plates to curb its use among motorists,” he said.
