SEREMBAN: A 29-year-old man has been detained to assist in a police probe over a tweet alleging that an Orang Asli had raped and killed 15-year-old Nora Anne Quoirin whose body was found on Tuesday.
He was detained at the Seremban district police station at about 7pm on Thursday when he came to have his statement recorded, said state police chief Deputy Comm Datuk Mohamad Mat Yusop.
“This case will be handed over to the federal police in Bukit Aman to be further investigated, ” he said.
The tweet, posted by someone who used the Twitter handle @tertumbuk, also alleged that the police would not be able to find the Orang Asli as most of them did not have identity cards. The Twitter account has since been deleted.
There are two Orang Asli villages near the resort where Nora Anne’s family had checked in on Aug 3 for their two-week holiday.
Nora Anne had arrived at the resort with her parents and two siblings. On the morning of Aug 4, she was not seen in the room that she shared with her siblings.
The authorities ruled out foul play in the death of the girl whose remains were found in a stream 10 days after she had disappeared.
Medical experts who conducted a nine-hour autopsy on her remains ruled that she had suffered upper gastrointestinal bleeding.
DCP Mohamad said forensic experts also found that the teenager was not sexually assaulted or subjected to any form of violence.
