Bukit Aman to handle Dong Zong investigations, says CID director

SHAH ALAM: Bukit Aman will conduct the investigations into Chinese educationist group Dong Zong, says the police.

“We have checked and six police reports have been made on the Dong Zong matter.

“Investigations will be conducted by Bukit Aman, via the USJT (Classified Criminal Investigations Department).

"We’ll see what the results of the investigation are and we will follow-up accordingly, ” Federal CID director Comm Datuk Huzir Mohamed said at a press conference Thursday (Aug 15) at the Selangor police headquarters.

He added that members of the group would also be called to assist with the investigations.

On Monday (Aug 12), Dr Mahathir described Dong Zong as “racist”, saying it frequently protests the government’s education policies – including introducing khat in schools.

The Prime Minister said the organisation had previously opposed the setting up of Sekolah Wawasan, where three types of primary schools – national schools, Chinese vernacular primary schools and Tamil vernacular primary schools – would come under one roof.

The group had strongly opposed the introduction of khat, leading to various parties both opposing and supporting their stance.
